לכבוד "שבוע התפוצות", נתכנס לערב מיוחד שמבקש לעסוק בשאלות הליבה של הזהות היהודית באמריקה והיחס בין יהדות אמריקה למדינת ישראל. הרצאתה של הסוציולוגית ד"ר עליסה סיימון תפגיש אותנו עם אופנים שונים בהם יהודים באמריקה ובישראל חושבים על טיבה של מערכת היחסים בין שני המרכזים היהודים, ועם המשמעויות הפוליטיות והחברתיות שלהן. לאחר מכן נתכבד לשמוע את הרב ייץ ובלו גרינברג, שתי דמויות מופת של מנהיגים אקטיביסטים יהודים אמריקאים וציונים. בשיחתם הם ישתפו מחשבות ותובנות של מעל שבעים שנות פעילות בזירה החינוכית בארה"ב ובישראל, יצביעו על התמורות והאתגרים וישרטטו חזון לעתיד.

כיבוד יהודי-אמריקאי ('בייגלס אנד לוקס') יוגש בתחילת האירוע.

"Are We One People?"
Israel and American Jewry – Past and Future

With the participation of:
Rabbi Yitz and Blu Greenberg and Dr. Alisa Simon

In honor of “Diaspora Week,” we will gather for a special evening dedicated to exploring the core questions of Jewish identity in America and the relationship between American Jewry and the State of Israel. Dr. Alisa Simon, a sociologist, will introduce us to different ways in which Jews in America and Israel think about the nature of the relationship between these two Jewish centers, and the political and social implications of these perspectives.

We will then have the privilege of hearing from Rabbi Yitz and Blu Greenberg, two exemplary American Jewish activist and Zionist leaders. In their conversation, they will share reflections and insights drawn from over seventy years of activity in the educational sphere in the United States and Israel, point to changes and challenges, and outline a vision for the future.

Jewish-American refreshments (“Bagels & Lox”) will be served at the beginning of the event.
